I’ve been trying to be better about showing published work. The truth is that you’re not supposed to show work before it’s published, and it’s often shot 2-3 months before that happens. So I get backlogged on shoots past even though they’re currently on shelves. I was pretty excited to get an assignment from Bowdoin College to shoot a story on Seattle Asian grocery stores, Uwajimaya and Kai Market. These stores don’t typically allow photography (probably because they’re so photographic!) so I was excited to have access to bring in some lighting and shoot to my heart’s content. The store’s current owner is Denise Moriguchi, who is an alumni of Bowdoin College, hence the feature. Here’s a link to the piece.
